Poultry Feed Quantity Planner

Estimate how much feed to buy before a production period starts. Choose a planning preset or enter the daily intake recommended for your breed, age and feed programme.

Your flock numbers

How to use this planner

Start with the number of birds you expect to feed and the number of days you are buying for. Daily feed intake changes with breed, age, body weight, temperature and production stage, so the presets are only planning examples. Replace the daily intake with the recommendation from your hatchery or feed manufacturer whenever you have one.

The calculator multiplies birds × daily feed × days. It then adds your expected wastage and optional safety stock. Because feed is normally purchased in whole bags, the bag estimate rounds up so you do not plan to buy part of a bag.

Why feed planning matters

Important: Feed intake is not one fixed number for every bird. Use this tool for purchasing and budgeting, then follow the feeding programme supplied for your specific breed and age. Consult a qualified poultry nutritionist or veterinarian when formulating rations or dealing with poor growth or production.
